Events

On the social front, the Lodge organizes two Sunday Lunches in the year, as a white table and includes non-masons, be it family and friends. This year of 2008, the dates set for these Sunday Lunches are 27th April and 26th October. These lunches have a great following and numbers in attendance vary between 72 and 105 and early booking is always encouraged via the master of the festive boards; W. Bro Malcolm Taylor.

This year 2008, the Master W. Bro. Richard Davis will be organizing a Christmas Dinner on 6th December which will include Christmas Carols and other items of interest to start everyone off with a festive spirit.

History

The Braintree Saint George Lodge ‘a Daylight Lodge’ sponsored by The Lodge of St. Mary No.1312 and was consecrated on Thursday 19th February 2004 by the Provincial Grand Master of Essex, R.W. Bro. Col. Sir Neil Thorne, OBE, TD, DL. During the ceremony W. Bro. Jack Dove PPJGW was duly installed as the Lodge’s first Worshipful Master with Bro. Len Bareham PPGPurs Senior Warden and Bro. Peter Nash PPGPurs as Junior Warden.

The Lodge is now an integral part of the Howard Hall Masonic Centre which is run on a strictly business footing with an elected Chairman and Committee. The Committee is responsible to all Lodge’s and Degrees for the day-to-day administration of the
building and its facilities.

The Lodge, at present, has some 81 Members including Honorary Members and holds regular meetings on the 3rd Saturday of March, May and October opening at 10.00 a.m.

The initial policy was set to accommodate Initiates who were not able to join an evening lodge, and that advancement would not be available until further review of future policy. At present the Lodge enjoys a healthy ‘Joining Member’ establishment and as such, the attendance at each meeting has an average of 75 including Visitors.

Other than the Installation meeting, the Lodge enjoy talks given by a visiting Brethren who have matters of interest to all who attend. We have in the past initiated three new Brethren on the above policy and they enjoy their role as Stewards.
There are no lodges of instruction, only rehearsals prior to a meeting.
